A cleaner in Shariatpur’s Bhedarganj upazila parishad died after falling from the upazila parishad building yesterday.

Sokina Begum (45), wife of Yusuf Shikdar, of Basudevpur village of the upazila, was the temporary cleaner of Bhedarganj upazila parishad, reports our Shariatpur correspondent quoting ABM Rashidul Bari, officer-in-charge of Bhedarganj Police Station.

OC Rashidul said the incident occurred when Sokina was cleaning the third floor of the upazila parishad building this noon and slipped and fell.

Fellow workers rescued her and took her to Bhedarganj upazila hospital where the on duty doctor declared her dead, he said, adding that the body will be handed over to family members after an autopsy.

An unnatural death case was filed with Bhedarganj Police Station in this connection, added the OC.
