A man died under the wheels of a train in Dhaka’s Khilkhet area this morning.

The identity of the deceased, aged around 35, could not be known immediately.

The incident took place around 6:00am when an airport-bound train from Kamalapur station run him over him at Khilkhet level crossing, leaving him critically injured, said Jahangir Khan, a sub-inspector of Khilkhet Police Station.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 8:00am, he said.

The police officer said they came to know that the deceased was homeless and used to live on city streets. 

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
