Two army personnel were dead and three were injured when a truck hit an army pick-up van in Kamarkhand upazila of Sirajganj district last night.

The deceased were identified as soldier Dipankar (25) and Corporal Mehedi Hasan (35). The injured are Sergeant Firoz (36), soldier Mainul (21), and Lance Corporal Imran (30), reports our correspondent quoting police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge West Zone Police Station, Md Mosaddek Hossain, said that the accident occurred at the Shimantobazar area when a speeding truck hit the pick-up van, carrying the army personnel, from behind.

Two army personnel died on the spot while three others were critically injured.

The victims are the members of 37 AB regiment artillery of Tangail Bangabandhu Cantonment, the OC said.
