The Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) will be given the charge of collecting tolls on the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga expressway, said Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today.

“A proposal regarding the matter was approved at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today,” the minister told reporters.

KEC as a service provider will look after the expressway toll collection, the operation of intelligent transport system (ITS), and operation and maintenance of the expressway.

There are three bridges in addition to the expressway. All vehicles have to pay toll in one place, said Shamsul Arefin, additional secretary of the Cabinet Division.

“The South Korean company collects tolls on and maintains 4,112 km of expressways and 1,329 km of bridges in their country,” added Shamsul.
