Bangladesh government is going to organise six-month-long international exhibition in Dubai from October 1 as a part of its initiatives to highlight the economy and brighten the image of the country.

The decision of arranging the exhibition, which would be continued till March 31, 2022, was revealed in a special meeting organised by the commerce ministry on Wednesday.

While presiding over the meeting, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said the 180-day exhibition could play a vital role in highlighting the strengths of Bangladesh’s economy and brightening the country’s image.

But the active participation of the private sector is pre-requisite, he added.

Addressing the meeting, Md Jasim Uddin, president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), said steps have already been taken to highlight all the potential sectors of the country at the exhibition.

A specialised committee has been working for this, added hopping that the world entrepreneurs will see a new strong Bangladesh at the exhibition.

Former FBCCI President and Dhaka-10 MP Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin said the event will bring Bangladesh an opportunity to capture the untapped markets of the Middle East and Africa.

Commerce Ministry Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh chaired the meeting where FBCCI Vice-President and Convener of the expo committee Md Amin Helali and many business leaders joined the meeting.
