Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police of Motijheel division has arrested Hefajat-e-Islam leader Rezwan Rafiquee last night.

Iftekhairul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of DMP’s media and public relations department, confirmed the matter to The Daily Star this morning.

Rezwan was arrested from Dhaka’s Mugda area last night, the police official said.

He has been shown arrested in the case filed with Paltan Police Station over the March 26 violence in Dhaka centering Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, said AKM Hafiz Akhter, additional commissioner of (DB) DMP.

“Rezwan has been putting provocative posts on Facebook and other social media for some days now to free the jailed Hefajat leaders,” he added.
