Five police personnel — a sub-inspector and four constables — sustained burn injuries today as the AC compressor of the vehicle they were in exploded while taking gas at Kendurbagh Petrol Pump in Begumganj, Noakhali.

The injured — SI Borhan (55), constables Besantar Tanchainga (24), Mrigen (22) Rakesh (22) and Shakib (24), — are working in Noakhali Police Lines, reports our Noakhali correspondent, quoting police.

“All the injured are currently undergoing treatment at the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital,” said Mohammad Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Begumganj Model Police Station.

“The vehicle was transporting four accused from Noakhali District Jail to Lakshmipur. However, the accused are currently in the custody of Begumganj Police Station,” said Noakhali Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shahidul Islam.
