A court yesterday sent a man to jail for his alleged involvement in the rape of a teenage girl in Patuakhali’s Kalapara upazila.

The accused is Nur Alam Khan, 38, of Kuakata. Tourist Police (Kuakata zone) detained him and handed over to Mohipur Police Station, said the law enforcers.

Abdul Halim, sub-inspector of Mohipur Police Station, said a case was filed against Nur and one Sagar in connection with the incident.

Sagar could not be arrested yet, he added.

According to the case statement, Sagar lured the 18-year-old victim with a job offer and took her to a hotel in Kuakata on Thursday. He then left the hotel, leaving the girl behind.

The hotel’s owner Nur then raped her. On a tip-off, police conducted a raid, detained Nur and rescued the victim, the police official said.

The victim was sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for tests.

Meanwhile, Kalapada Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court sent Nur to jail after police produced him before the court.
