Chittagong Medical College (CMC), which was closed following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), will reopen on November 27.
The decision came in a meeting of the college academic council today, confirmed Prof Dr Shahena Akter, principal of CMC.
The authorities during the academic council meeting also decided to take punitive actions against 29 students for their involvement in the clash.
Of them, eight were suspended for two years, two for one and a half years and 20 for one year, the principal added.
One internee doctor was also found guilty in the investigation by the probe body formed to investigate into the clash, the principal said.
Chittagong Medical College was announced closed for an indefinite period following the clash on campus on October 30.
CMC student Mahadi J Aqib, a BCL activist and follower of Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, was critically injured during the clash.
The clash took place following another incident the night before. The faction loyal to former Chattogram City Corporation mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, also general secretary of Chattogram city unit of Awami League, and another loyal to Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel had clashed inside the hostel on the night of October 29.
