Three people were killed when a stone-laden truck hit a rickshaw on Cumilla-Sylhet highway near Maynamati Union Office in Cumilla this morning.

The deceased are passengers of the rickshaw Abdul Ahad (29) and Abu Yousuf (22) and its puller Ismail Hosen Sagar (30), reports our local correspondent, quoting Abdur Rahman, a sub-inspector of Maynamati Highway Police Station.

The truck fell in a roadside ditch after hitting the rickshaw in Shaheb Bazar area around 6:00am, the SI added.

Police have detained the truck driver and helper. The bodies were sent for autopsy.
